Chess Sense ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Chess Sense mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it when you use our App.

We collect only the minimum data necessary for the App to function properly:

• Non-personal data: Device type, operating system version, app version, language preference, session duration, and general usage statistics (e.g., which gambits you train, quiz performance).
• Progress data: Your Sense Score, completed sessions, mastered gambits, and quiz results — stored locally on your device and optionally synced if you sign in with Google (optional feature).
• Google Play Services: If you choose to sign in with Google to save progress across devices, we receive your Google account email and basic profile information (name, profile picture) solely for authentication and progress syncing.

We do not collect:

• Your name, email address, or any personal identifiers unless you voluntarily sign in with Google.
• Payment information (handled entirely by Google Play Billing).
• Location data, contacts, photos, microphone, camera, or any other sensitive permissions.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information only to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the App (e.g., track your progress, show Sense Score, unlock features).
• Sync your progress across devices if you sign in with Google.
• Analyze anonymous usage trends to improve user experience (aggregated, non-identifiable data).
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

3. Sharing of Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share anonymized, aggregated data with analytics partners (e.g., Google Analytics for Firebase) to understand usage patterns.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your progress data is stored:

• Locally on your device (no internet required for core functionality).
• Optionally on secure Google servers if you sign in (encrypted, Google-managed).

We implement reasonable security measures to protect against unauthorized access, but no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

5. Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such data, please contact us immediately at the email below.

6. Your Choices

• You can use the App without signing in (no personal data collected).
• You can sign out or clear app data at any time to remove synced progress.
• You can uninstall the App to delete all local data.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy in the App and updating the effective date above.
